The Diocesan Bishop
The Most Revd Dr. Simon Oluwole Borokini PhD CFAT, Bishop of Akure Anglican Diocese and Archbishop of Ondo Ecclesiastical Province, was born on July 15, 1956, in Iju, Akure North, Ondo State. A dedicated teacher and minister, Most Revd Dr. Borokini served for fifteen years as Senior Lecturer and Registrar at the Archbishop Vining College of Theology, Akure, and pastored several parishes within Akure and Ondo Dioceses. He later became Rector of Awosika Theological College, Ondo, Archdeacon of Odigbo, and Provost of St. David’s Cathedral, Ijomu, Akure.
On January 9, 2013, he was elected and, on February 24, 2013, consecrated as Bishop of Akure; the first indigene of Akure to hold this position since the advent of Christianity in the city in 1897. In recognition of his exemplary leadership and service, he was elected Archbishop of Ondo Ecclesiastical Province in 2022.
